TSYEB Broth (Tryptone Soy Yeast Extract Broth) is a general purpose medium that supports the growth of a wide variety of microorganisms. This medium is formulated according to ISO 11290:1999 and is used for the confirmation of Listeria monocytogenes colonies and for subcultutivation of suspected Listeria colonies. Casein peptone and soy peptone provide nitrogen, vitamins, minerals and amino acids essential for growth. Yeast extract is a source of vitamins, particularly of the B-group essential for bacterial growth. Glucose is the fermentable carbohydrate providing carbon and energy. Dipotassium phosphate acts as a buffer system. Sodium chloride supplies essential electrolytes for transport and osmotic balance.
