Syncase Broth is recommended by APHA for the detection of coliforms in foods samples. Acid casein peptone provides nitrogen, vitamins, minerals and amino acids essential for growth. Yeast extract is source of vitamins, particularly the B-group. Dipotassium Phosphate act as a buffer system. Sodium chloride supplies essential electrolytes for transport and osmotic balance.
