SCDLP 80 Broth is used for the detection of specified and non-specified microorganisms in cosmetic products. The composition of this medium corresponds to the classical TSB (Trypticase Soy Broth) formulation with thw addition of lecithin and polysorbate 80. The relatively high casein peptone content provides optimal conditions for the spore germination and regeneration of even damaged microorganisms. Lecithin neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds and polysorbate 80 neutralizes phenolic disinfectants, hexachlorophene, formalin and with lecithin ethanol. Casein peptone and soy peptone provide the nitrogen source, vitamins, and growth factors, sodium chloridemantains the osmotic balance and dipotassium hydrogenphosphate act as a buffer.
