Thrombin is a serine protease purified from bovine plasma for digestion of GST-tagged proteins or other tagged proteins that contain the thrombin recognition sequence.

Specific cleavage - enables site-specific cleavage of fusion proteins containing an accessible recognition sequence.
Functionally free of other clotting factors such as plasminogen and plasmin.

Thrombin protease for fusion protein cleavage

Thrombin is used to digest fusion proteins prepared from pGEX vectors containing the recognition sequence for thrombin. The following vectors encode that sequence: pGEX-1T, pGEX-2T, pGEX-2TK, pGEX-4T-1, pGEX-4T-2, and pGEX-4T-3.
